Abstract

Software process maturity is strongly linked to the success or failure of the projects. It is also closely related with the quality of the products and the efforts necessary to develop them. Soft-ware process improvement and certification is very important for Lithuanian IT companies seeking to increase the export of their software products and services. Public procurement of IT products and services desiderates impartial criteria for supplier selection. This paper provides analysis of current situation in Lithuania and the initiatives taken in the software process improvement area. Special attention is paid for the project performed by Vilnius University, Kaunas University of Technology together with leading Lithuanian IT companies Alna and Sintagma seeking to provide methodology and tools supporting assessment, definition and implementation of mature software process.
